“Politics follows the culture,” Mr. DeMint said in an interview. “The conservative movement has been derelict in not putting together an organized movement across this country.”

Does he think he’s a Democrat? I mean…historically Democrats have…shall we say, had some difficulties with keeping their movement organized, while Republicans have had legendary skill in organizing a movement…

Heritage has always been a propaganda shop. They’ve pushed “policies” that they thought would help conservatives win elections. That included the individual mandate as an alternative to Democratic party health care reform ideas.

That they dropped it like a rock the moment that Obama took it up as part of his proposal so as to woo Republicans to join on the health care reform legislation, Heritage not only attempted to disavow their prior position of support, but then claimed that it was unconstitutional to boot. It was that event that exposed the true nature of Heritage and its goal - it has nothing to do with sound policy, or even unsound policy. It’s about getting conservatives elected, even if you need pretzel logic to keep track of their positions.

DeMint has made this far more explicit that ever, but it’s always been an undercurrent of Heritage operations.

Heritage has always been a bunch of right wing hacks. The thing is that’s magnified under DeMint.

Exactly. Here is where they said Nelson Mandela was “no friend of peace” on the occasion of his first visit to the US in 1990.

Terrific example.
